Abengoa has extended its vision for greener commerce to more than 80 countries around the world.
Green Fuels
Green Fuels is a British biodiesel company and the world’s leaders in the manufacture of biodiesel production equipment. It has 25 large-scale bio-refineries dotted around the world and an impressive global map of thousands of independent biodiesel processing plants. At 0.77 kg/L, 350 million litres of biodiesel would mass 270,000 tonnes and substitute for about 250,000 tonnes of petroleum-derived liquid fuel. By this substitution, it would prevent the emission of the 800,000 tonnes of CO2 that that much fossil oil would produce when burned.
That’s an implausibly large amount, and indeed the article says 2500 tonnes, about 300 times less. But the 350 million litre figure — which jumped out at me as implausibly large even before I tried the arithmetic — must therefore be too high by a factor of about 300.
