Triple J’s Hack visits the Murray Darling Basin

The mallee scrub of my work area near Renmark - along the Murray.

I was going to mention this in the morning for all those interested, but this week Triple J’s “Hack” show (at 5:30pm) is featuring towns along the Murray Darling Basin. Today’s episode mentioned the views of locals who have watched the water levels drop over the past decade and conflict with cotton growers. I tend to be against cotton farming in Australia, but it’s interesting to hear from them (comparing themselves to other growers).

It’s a really good look into the lives of the smaller agricultural communities along Australia’s most important water way where nothing is really black and white. I recommend listening to it if you can and if not, they also have the shows as podcasts on Triple J’s website. It’s great to hear our rural voice!
